Overview
Bread Cooperative builds financial tools designed to move money in ways that serve communities rather than extract from them. Everything here is open source, runs on Gnosis Chain, and is funded by the tools themselves.
Solidarity Fund
Section titled “Solidarity Fund”Give without giving.
Bake xDAI into $BREAD and your deposit generates yield, distributed monthly to member projects by community vote. Your principal stays intact — only the earnings get shared. The more $BREAD you hold, the more say you have in where the yield goes.
- How it Works — baking, burning, and the monthly vote
- Current Member Projects — who receives the yield
- Liquidity Providing — keeping your voting power while providing liquidity
Stacks
Section titled “Stacks”Savings circles for those closest to you. Members pool $BREAD at regular intervals and each round one member receives the full pot, until everyone has had their turn. The rules are encoded in a smart contract, so no single person holds the pot.
- What is a savings circle? — the centuries-old practice Stacks is built on
- How Stacks works — the on-chain version, and how to run one for your organisation
In development
Section titled “In development”New mechanisms get built when member projects need them, and get adopted into the core infrastructure once they work. Development happens in the open:
- GitHub — every repository, including work in progress
- Discord — weekly community calls every Wednesday, where current work gets discussed
